Let me preface my story of the day with, we are not morning people! AT ALL! We are night owls and late sleepers. Since Landen has started preschool, every morning, we peel ourselves out of bed as late as possible to get him to school on time. Thankfully for me, Brian is the one who drops him off because he heads to work afterwards. If I had to drop off, I would be the extreme train wreck mom every morning.
Every once in a while, I help out my fellow late sleeper hubby, and take Landen to school. Today was one of those days. Brian had a hard time going to sleep last night. Poor guy has a lot on his mind regarding moving and his thesis. So, I threw myself together really fast after realizing that I had woke up 6 minutes later than we should have, leaving Landen and I 24 minutes to eat, get dressed, gather things for school and be on our way. We accomplished it all in record time and I got him to school without a problem.
Feeling accomplished, I then decided that I would run to the grocery store to retrieve pie crusts for Thanksgiving since the crazies of Meijer were buying pie crust like the apocalypse was coming and had emptied the freezer case of them all by 5:00 last night. I saw one woman with stacks of them in her arms. Meijer on Sunday night prior to turkey day was a huge mistake.
Anyway, I head to the store, and as I get out of the car, I realize what exactly I was and wasn't wearing. I had on leggings, socks and shirt that I had worn all day the day prior, and proceeded to sleep in, and I had not put a bra on. Thank God for winter outer wear. From the outside I was sporting a pretty mustard yellow scarf, my brown riding boots and dress coat that goes past my knees. I made myself laugh knowing what was underneath. Train wreck mom can be taken to an entirely new level in the winter thanks to coats and boots!
I marched into the grocery store, got two packs of pie crusts and snagged some fresh doughnuts for the late sleepers that were likely still sawing logs at home and was on my merry way!
When I got home at 9:07, Nolan was awake and playing a game on the IPad. My Mr. Independent 3 year old had got up, peed in the potty and got himself dressed and was happily waiting for me. His outfit was adorable. Gym shorts and a sweatshirt on backwards. :) He was very proud of himself, and I was proud of him, too! We sat down and ate our doughnuts together to start our day, one of us freshly dressed but mismatched, and the other a bra-less dirty scoundrel. :) Happy Monday everyone!
P.S. I have since showered and instead of normal clothes, I put on p.j's. Ahhh, one of the perks of a stay at home mom.
