A great website for more information about this topic is the Environmental Working Group (EWG). It has wonderful information with various guides regarding everything that could cause you harm from the dirty dozen to what sunscreens to use and which to avoid. They also have a list titled "clean fifteen". The "clean fifteen" lists conventionally grown foods that, when tested, have low amounts of pesticide residue. Keep in mind, if you are also concerned about GMO's, when purchasing any of the non-organic clean fifteen foods, there is still a possibility that they have been genetically modified. To avoid GMO's, you should purchase organic. GMO's will be discussed in a future post.

A perfect example of health challenges children face today are asthma and allergies. Why are they on the rise? This is just my opinion, but I truly believe that it is directly related to our environment and the toxins that are everywhere. Both my husband and I never had asthma or allergies and all three of our children now have some form of them. Aside from our family, you hear about it everywhere. For that reason alone, if there is one way I can eliminate some of the toxins my children and I ingest, I am going to make every effort to avoid them!
