Your starter home is where you bring your newborn babes home and rock them in a special place that you tirelessly worked on while anticipating their arrival, then sit up with them in the dark hours of night. It's where they took their first steps and where you spent their first Christmas' and birthdays surrounded by family. It's where they hung their first school paper proudly on the wall. It is the home that your children think is "so big" and there is no need for anything more in their innocent minds that haven't been raveged by society. Your starter home often needs some fixing up and you work really hard to make it nice and feel homey and all yours. But then, you begin to meet the occupancy level as you continue to add more precious babes to your brood and your perfect LITTLE house no longer meets your family's needs. As much as you want it to, it just doesn't. It kills me.
I know material things shouldn't matter, that as long as you have your family, you have a home. Because of that, I know in the end I will be fine. It just hurts really bad to let my memory box house go. We plan to rent the place, so techinically, it will still be mine to keep, but I just can't imagine someone else living here. I pray that whoever it is takes good care of it. This cozy home deserves to be well cared for and to become someone elses memory box. Hopefully, when one of my boys returns as a student at Notre Dame many years from now :), he can come back and live here and add to the memories! For now, I will try and soak up as much as I can to take with me!
